Road Trip

In August 2004 my Mum and I went on a road trip through England and up to Glasgow, Scotland. We started in Hertfordshire visiting relatives for lunch then in the afternoon we headed over to Stratford-upon-Avon. We stayed the night in a nice little B&B and the next day we did all the touristy things one does in Stratford, visited the house of Anne Hathaway (Shakespeares wife) and the birthplace of Shakespeare. We then headed to Warwick and spent the afternoon at Warwick Castle.

We stayed the night in Leeds then headed through the Yorkshire Moors towards the coast, stopping at the peaceful Kirkham Priory (ruins now) and a 'Medievil Village'. We were told about this by the lady at the priory and Mum had spotted it on the map. Once we found it we had to walk for 3/4 mile. There was a church and a house there built in the 1800's. The 'village' was some markings on the ground, which we didn't really get to see because we were chased away by cows! ha ha!

Scarborough is on the coast and was packed with holiday makers. It was scary to see how many people were swimming as it was definately not a hot day. We visited the remains of Scarborough castle which sits on top of a cliff. We then headed to Whitby to see the Abbey. The next day we headed towards Edinburgh but when we got clode the traffic was a nightmare! It was a long weekend, the last weekend of the Fringe festival and film festival, there was a book festival on and a tattoo! So we decided to bypass Edinburgh and went to Glasgow instead.
